Busta Rhymes is an American rapper, actor, record producer, and label executive. He is primarily renowned for his amazing style and fashion sense, as well as his complicated rhyming technique, which entails rapping at a fast pace while using a lot of internal rhyme and half rhyme.

Busta was born in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States on May 20, 1972. He and his family moved to Uniondale, Long Island, when she was 12 years old. They then moved to the United Kingdom, where they spent time in Liverpool and Morecambe, England, before returning to the United States. Trevor Smith, Sr. is his father, and Geraldine Green is his mother. He has a brother named Paul Smith as well.

In 1989, Busta Rhymes launched his career alongside fellow Long Island residents Charlie Brown, Dinco D, and Cut Monitor Milo. Leaders of the New School, an East Coast hip-hop group, was created by them.

In 1992, he cut “Scenario” with A Tribe Called Quest’s posse and released T.I.M.E. (The Inner Mind’s Eye) in 1993. Until mid-1994, he continued to make guest appearances, such as on the single “Oh My God.” Then, in 1995, he began work on his solo debut album The Coming, which he released a month after recording it in March 1996.

Then, in 1997, he began production on his second album, When Disaster Strikes, in which he included several of his previous singles. Similarly, he released his fifth album Anarchy in 2000, his sixth album It Ain’t Safe No More in 2002, and his seventh album The Big Bang in 2003.

He also released a solo single in 2008, which was defended by Ron Browz, the track’s producer, in 2010. Next year, he collaborated with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne on the song “Look at Me Now,” which was featured on Brown’s fourth album. He joined The Conglomerate Ent., Busta, in 2012 and was featured on “Devil.” Similarly, he released a new single, “Get It,” with Missy Elliot and Kelly Rowland, through Epic Records earlier this year.

Busta Rhymes has been nominated for 11 Grammy Awards for his work. He has also released nine studio albums, including “Woo Hah!! “Dangerous,” “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” “Gimme Some More,”   “Turn It Up (Remix)/Fire It Up,” “What’s It Gonna Be?!!” and “Touch It,” among others.

Busta Rhymes Facts

  • Busta Rhymes was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2000 for uttering the most syllables in a single second. Previously, John Moschitta, a voice-over actor, held the post. A few years later, a little-known Chicago rapper reclaimed the title from the New York MC.
  •  His rap moniker is derived from the name of a former football player. When Rhymes first started rapping, he followed the hip-hop movement. “Ski” was the rap pseudonym of everyone who was anyone. Busta Rhymes was the same way. Chilly-O-Ski was his first rap moniker. He and a lot of other people thought that name was corny soon after he gave it to himself. Public Enemy’s Chuck D renamed him Busta Rhymes in honour of former Minnesota Viking George “Buster” Rhymes. “Yo, did you hear Chilly-O-new Ski’s song?” you might ask. That’s fantastic, son!” No? Neither do we.
  •  He’s had over 300 songs written about him. In hip-hop, remixes have become the norm. We sit and anticipate who will be on the remix when a popular song is released. Busta Rhymes is frequently featured in remixes. Rhymes’ best hits are tracks where he breezes in, drops a hot 16, and bounces, and most of his biggest singles are tunes where he breezes in, drops a scorching 16, and bounces. The Pussycat Dolls’ first single, “Don’t Cha,” received airplay. When Busta Rhymes joined the track in 2005, it became a Top 5 smash on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles list. People like Tiesto, the house music sensation, and DMX are among his collaborations. His ferocious energy and precise delivery are only two of the reasons he’s on everyone’s radar.
  •  Busta Rhymes has only had one number one album debut. Five of his eight albums have achieved platinum certification. None of the five albums that went platinum debuted at number one. The Big Bang, released in 2006, is Busta’s only album to spend at least a week at the top of the charts. The Big Bang, ironically, is one of his less well-known works. Despite successes like “Touch It” and “I Love My Chick,” it only sold 613,000 copies after a 209,000-copy first week. That means the first week accounted for a third of the album’s overall sales. Yikes!
  • He dropped out of Leaders of the New School before they could get a record deal. Busta first made a name for himself as a member of the rap group Leaders of the New School. The trio came to an end on the set of Yo! MTV Raps, as you may recall. Many people are unaware that Busta Rhymes and the Leaders of the New School split up and reunited before signing their pact. Rhymes told VladTV about being booted out of the club for refusing to give Dinco D and Charlie Brown a ride. “Even before the first record, I wasn’t getting along with the Leaders of the New School. I don’t have a verse for you when you hear “Too Much On My Mind.” They began recording while I was out of the group, and the person who wanted to sign Leaders of the New School refused to do so unless the members were the same ones he had seen perform months before. They asked me to return, and I accepted with a few conditions. The main one was that two of my solo tracks have to be included on the CD. As a result, I did “Feminine Fatt” and “Show Me A Hero” by myself.”
  •  He used to be a fashion designer. Everyone knows Busta Rhymes can rap and act, but they were puzzled as to whether he understood anything about fashion design. When Rhymes unveiled his apparel line, Bushi, in the late 1990s, he demonstrated that he possessed a little bit of understanding. Profit was nearly invisible for the first few years, as it is for most start-up enterprises. As the money continued to trickle into the rapper’s pockets at a snail’s pace, he grew dissatisfied with the business. Rhymes made the decision to close his business and cut his losses. He returned to being a full-time rapper after donating the excess products to local charities.
  •  He grew his dreads in the hopes of landing a record deal. Busta Rhymes has been known for his characteristic dreadlocks since his debut in the rap game in 1989. Many people linked his dreadlocks to his Jamaican ancestry. They’d be mistaken. The real cause has nothing to do with culture. He opted not to top comb or cut his hair when he got his record deal because he didn’t have to anymore. When he left J Records to join Dr. Dre’s Aftermath stable in 2005, he chopped his locks off. He explained that shaving his hair was a metaphor of a fresh start at a new label.
  •  Busta Rhymes is rap music’s Susan Lucci. Susan Lucci, a daytime soap actor, is well-known for being nominated for an Emmy 18 times since 1978, but only winning once in 1999. Busta Rhymes is in the same predicament when it comes to rap. Busta Rhymes has never won an MTV Video Music Award, despite having some of the most inventive videos of the 1990s. He has received 15 nominations. In shutouts, he is second only to Britney Spears. She was overlooked for 17 nominations until she won three awards in 2008. The Video Music Awards aren’t the only event where Busta Rhymes has been overlooked. Despite nine nominations, Rhymes has never received a Grammy award for his work. With “Look At Me Now” being such a massive hit, it’s almost certain to be nominated in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category this year. He has a strong chance of winning that one.
  • He’d have preferred to be a member of A Tribe Called Quest. As previously stated, Busta Rhymes’ relationship with the other members of Leaders of the New School was difficult. Everything was a source of contention between them. The rise of Busta Rhymes as a solo artist sparked a lot of debate. Because he was featured on a few of A Tribe Called Quest recordings without the other Leaders of the New School members, Rhymes was gaining a lot of notice as a solo act. “I always wanted to be in Tribe,” Busta remarked in an interview. After a fight, I’d always leave Leaders of the New School and contact Q-Tip to see where they were. Without Leaders of the New School, I had so many cameos on Tribe records because Tribe always loved me when I was frustrated with Leaders of the New School. Tribe has always considered me a member of the family.”
  •  Busta’s tardiness irritates Sean Connery. Sean Connery, an Oscar winner, is known for being incredibly prompt. Busta arrived on set two minutes late for the film Finding Forrester and was met by a late slip from the Scottish actor. Given that Sean Connery was also one of the film’s producers, Rhymes couldn’t get too worked up, or he’d be out of a job. When 2pac was shot five times, the rapper grinned and accepted the situation.
