Macaulay Culkin Facts
- Christopher Cornelius ‘Kit’ Culkin and Bonnie Bedelia had seven children, the third of whom was Macaulay Culkin. He was raised as a Roman Catholic and attended Catholic school, Professional Children’s School, and School of American Ballet, among others.
- Culkin began performing at the age of four and has since been in several theatre shows, including ‘Bach Babies.’ Throughout the 1980s, he continued to act in stage productions, commercials, and films, realising that this was what he intended to do for the rest of his life.
- He was immediately cast in the action series ‘The Equalizer’ and the television movie ‘Midnight Hour.’ He became Hollywood’s adored child after starring in ‘Uncle Buck,’ his first huge blockbuster film, in 1989.
- When he starred in the enormously successful burlesque comedy ‘Home Alone’ in 1990, his stardom skyrocketed. The following year, he won over fans and critics with his endearing portrayal of a disturbed young girl’s best friend in the tearjerker ‘My Girl.’
- He was cast in the sequel, “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” in 1992, which was a little less successful than the first instalment in the “Home Alone” series. In 1993, he also starred in the film ‘The Good Son.’
- His proud parents pushed him even harder and urged him to sign additional films without hesitation after tasting success at such a young age. His father, who was also his manager, pushed him to sign the 1994 film adaption of a classic, ‘Richie Rich,’ in which he gave a ‘forgettable’ performance.
- In the late 1990s, reports began to circulate that the Culkins were engaged in a ruthless custody struggle over Macaulay’s fortune, which ultimately favoured his mother.
- After a long period of inactivity, he returned to acting with the West End production of “Madame Melville.” He made a special appearance on the NBC sitcom ‘Will and Grace’ in 2003 and acted in the film ‘Party Monster,’ about a club promoter.
- In 2004, he starred in the film ‘Saved,’ which garnered mixed reviews. Despite this, he received wonderful accolades as an adult actor. As a result of his fame, he was offered voice-over work and appeared in oddball films like Seth Green’s ‘Robot Chicken.’
- In 2006, he published ‘Junior,’ a semi-autobiographical novel that detailed his celebrity and his tumultuous relationship with his father.
- In 2007, he starred in the dark comedy ‘Sex and Breakfast,’ about a couple who, on their therapist’s advice, began to participate in group sex. At the box office, the picture received mixed reviews.
- He had a cameo in WWE Raw and appeared in an Aviva Insurance commercial in 2009. He most recently appeared on YouTube to demonstrate how he converted his New York apartment into a painting studio.
- In the blockbuster hit ‘Home Alone’ and its sequel, ‘Home Alone 2,’ Macaulay Culkin played Kevin McCallister, a clever and rowdy eight-year-old. Culkin was named to the lists of ‘100 Greatest Star-Kids’ and ’50 Greatest Child Stars’ when the picture became the highest-grossing comedy of all time.
- In 1990, he received the American Comedy Award for Funniest Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in the film “Home Alone.”
- In 1990, he received the Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Emerging Actor for his performance in “Home Alone.”
- In 1990, he won the Young Artist Award for Best Actor Starring in a Motion Picture for his performance in ‘Home Alone.’
- In 1998, he married actress Rachel Miner, but they divorced in 2002. He began dating actress Mila Kunis the following year and they split up in 2011.
- He was arrested in Oklahoma City in 2004 for possession of marijuana and other prohibited narcotics.
- He was close to Michael Jackson and even starred in the video for his song “Black or White.” In 2009, he was seen at Michael Jackson’s funeral.
- This Hollywood actor rose to prominence as part of the ‘Home Alone’ franchise and acted in the experimental film ‘The Wrong Ferrari,’ which was shot entirely on an iPhone.
